Soban K-Town Grill -New KBBQ with a twist in EASTWOOD

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

EASTWOOD– a newly opened Korean restaurant has got you covered with all your favorite Korean dish with a twist.

Living and working here in Eastwood City gives me a lot of advantage to try all the restaurants with such an ease so when I heard that a Korean grill restaurant will open soon I was just so excited as I’m craving for  really good Korean kbbq.

As what the owners have mentioned, Soban K-Town Grill a concept mostly been inspired by Korean communities in the United States.
This restaurant is located at the second floor of Eastwood Mall in Quezon City. Interiors are nice and look appealing to the people.
I’ve been here a lot of times already as it is always my thing to eat a lot of meat. So I wanted to share to you what I order here most of the time!
For a heads up, Soban K-Town dishes consist mainly with pork and chicken dishes.
So here are my favorite dishes from Soban:

  1. “Grill It Yourself Pork Sets” (starts at P315 for 90 grams, with unlimited rice, salad, soup and egg roll appetizer) you can choose from six flavors – Original, Fruity, Chili Bean, Soy Garlic, Doenjang (fermented soybean paste) and Wine.

  1. Dak Galbi also gets a slight tweak at Soban K-Town Grill. The Dak Galbi set (starts at P310 for 90 grams, with unlimited rice, salad, soup and egg roll appetizer) comes in three variants – Fruity, Spicy and Doenjang.

  1. Japchae (P195) and the Korilog (P135) to Ramyeon (P135).

  1. “Sung’s Picks” – are the tacos and burritos, an interesting way to have your Korean food with a twist of Mexican elements.

  1. Coffee Prince (P120) is my favorite dessert there as this sweet treat consists of soft graham, red beans and homemade coffee ice cream.

I think Soban K-Town Grill really stands out among other Korean restaurants in Metro Manila. The food, service and experience you can have by checking this place out is all worth it. After a good dinner you can also enjoy their wide selections of cocktail drinks! 9/10 for me indeed!

will definitely pay this restaurant another visit soon!

Soban K-Town Grill is located on the 2nd floor of Eastwood Mall, Eastwood City, Quezon City. Like them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram for more details.

Manila Culinary and Hospital Academy (MCHA) |affordable culinary class

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

I was given a chance to participate this trial event for aspiring chefs and I was pleased to be able to learn so much from this experience.

Ever since I was a kid I’ve always been wanted to learn how to cook. You know when you’re a ‘lil girl and your mom will always blunt things out to you that “Hey you need to learn how to cook well for your future husband so he won’t leave you.” Well, that sounds a bit sexist to me but hey I think we all know this cliché phrase goes “the way through your man’s heart is through his stomach.” so since then I’ve had this motivation to learn how to cook well but my hectic schedule in school and dancing pretty much didn’t allow me to take any culinary class.

So here goes my first culinary class experience.

Was it fun? Totally YES!

Will I continue? HELL YES!!!! But I need to find time for this HA~

To receive an invitation from the Manila Culinary and Hospital Academy (MCHA) was such overwhelming for me as for the first time in my life I will be able to learn techniques in the kitchen that I think all girls should know 😉

We had a lecture for 45 min before proceeding to the demo part.

It was led by Chef Myrna Palma whom I recalled to be such a sweet and humble woman! I would love to learn from her! She presented the methods for cooking and we were also had the chance to raise some questions out of our curiosity and she was also able to profoundly explain to us the differences of such techniques and methods. She even asked us what we wanted to cook for that day and all of us just gave this “whatever you want face” so it ended up by her asking us to cook Chicken Cordon Bleu.

She first assigned groups to us so all of us so we can save some time preparing for the dish.

I was assigned in the cutting group where we individually needs to cut those veggies in a very nice way.

I didn’t know cutting veggies is an art! It was difficult for me at first because I’m not used to cutting veggies to make it look presentable but I guess I nailed it!

See pictures below:

It was indeed a very good experience for me and I do appreciate the staffs, chefs and even the owner of the MCHA for giving us unforgettable cooking class!

I would like to invite you to check out their Facebook page as they have just posted their upcoming courses.

Borough Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato
Have you ever been depressed or stressed out and craving for a bit of comfort and the first thing that pops into your head is comfort food? Well, I have encountered such scenarios and it led me to discover this place I described as “HOMEY” and what cool about this place?  It is open for 24/7! yeah

Let me astonish you with this profound or cliché Euphemism: “HOMEY” to let you understand why I chose this word. I can say this word is a bit of catch call for comfort food but it is commonly used for the cheap eats. You know, when you or anybody in your house can make that themselves. Easy huh?

So this homey vibe recipes of this restaurant is what I like the most aside from the chill hippy atmosphere inside and the really friendly-good-looking Chef Cuit Kaufman in-house!

Let me give you some reviews of the menu they have served to us for the QUIZ night event for bloggers happened last Jul 25, 2016 in BOROUGH, Known for A chill and laid-back spot that is open 24/7 to serve good comfort food.

Note that Recipes are NYC inspired.

  1. chocolate chicken wings 280.00
  • For the adventurous. Baked wings coated in Cocoa and Cinnamon. Served with Cilantro Sour Cream.

I guess this what made me smile! Simply because I love chocolate and cinnamon in the first place. It tasted far from what you are expecting of overload sweet-cinnamonish texture. I did taste the cinnamon flavor more than the cocoa but later on, it would tastes as if it got over toasted. 3/5

  1. buffalo chicken wings 360.00
  • Classic Hot and spicy wings originally from Buffalo, New York, Served with real blue cheese dip.

The spiciness is tolerable but it is not something I would crave long after my visit but it is definitely worth a try! 4/5

  1. Fries in a basket 150.00
  • A whole basket of fries. Served with Borough’s ‘Odessa sauce’

Quite normal fries for me but the Odessa sauce got me munching for more! 3/5

  1. Haystack onion rings 180.00
  • Piled high, served with BBQ sauce and Sour Cream Dip. 2/5

I think this is a bit tiny strips of onion rings and I didn’t really enjoy it much.

  1. Popcorn calamari 290.00

  • Popcorn-crusted Fried squid tossed with extra popcorn for good measure. Served with Clarified cheese butter. 3/5

I love the buttered sauce paired with this popcorn and it surprised me that the bite-sized calamari they have included tasted great however, it is a bit small size for me and quite a bit expensive for a popcorn.

  1. Hummus 130.00
  • Blended chickpeas mixed with extra virgin olive oil and garnished with paprika. Served with homemade Pita bread. with veggie sticks

this is worth a try if you are a fan of Hummus and good for sharing for 5-8 people. 4/5

I also had the chance to taste one their bestsellers:

Mom’s Milk and Cookies 220.00

  • Chewy fresh-baked cookies in assorted flavors. Served with a pitcher of cold milk (The Chef’s special blend).

I love the chewy texture of the cookie tasted like fresh from the oven! And the milk is good too! 5/5

Plan your first visit in EL NIDO PALAWAN

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Travelling to this special Island requires a lot of patience and research.

This is a step by step guide for my Palawan getaway I planned for me and my boyfriend.

Hope you find this helpful!

How to get there:

  1. Book your flight ahead of time (check promo flights in Cebu Pacific on Monday and Thursday as they put promos during these days.)

  • I got mine for 6k ( roundtrip for 2)
  • However, if something occurs and will make you need to change your flight then please instead of rebooking it just ignore your booked flight and book another one coz sometimes it’s way cheaper! ( always compare first before purchasing your ticket)

  1. Find a good place to check-in ( book your place in coz it’s easy and hassle free)

I suggest not blowing your money to a fancy hotel as you will go to tours the whole day and will just stay in your hotel at night when it is time to go to bed.

Good tip:

We stayed in Sei Nazioni Cottages and it’s only 1200k per night (with breakfast for two) It is a cottage but the bed is really comfortable and the bathroom is nice! If you want to save money, experience local living and stay into a cozy place then book your place in Sei Nazioni J

(Just don’t make loud noises as it is not soundproof…oops )

Check this link for more info:

  1. Book a tour ( if you want a hassle and worry free vacation this is a must)

Good tip:

  • Okay, this itinerary is not ideally for backpacker. In my case, I want to avoid any hassles as much as possible and just enjoy making a lot of memories with my significant other.
  • I personally like Northern Hope Tours ( I don’t know about the other tours but I have researched and experienced their service and it’s good)
  • I emailed them what kind of tours I prefer like for example me and my boyfriend will be celebrating our 11th months in one of the days we will be in Palawan and after one day they emailed me back with complete itinerary plus the quotation like this:

1,200 Pesos – Van Transfer from PPS to El Nido [Sharing] (2 persons * 600 Pesos/person)

400 Pesos – EcoTourism Development Fee [ETDF] (2 persons * 200 Pesos/person)

2,800 Pesos – El Nido Island Hopping Tour C (2 persons * 1,400 Pesos/person)

1,500 Pesos – Tricycle Rental to Nacpan & Maremegmeg Beach (1 tricycle * 1,500 Pesos/tricycle)

2,400 Pesos – El Nido Island Hopping Tour A (2 persons * 1,200 Pesos/person)

1,200 Pesos – Van Transfer from El Nido to PPS [Sharing] (2 persons * 600 Pesos/person)

–1,200 Pesos – Discount

8,300 Pesos – TOTAL

They offer waterproof camera and water shoes rentals there so yeah just prepare some cash with you.

Camera- 500-700

Water shoes-100

  1. Leave early to avoid missing your flight schedule.

Good tip: If you are planning to go back to PP port you need to talk with some tricycle drivers already in the morning because during midnight it’s so hard to find drivers that will take you to bus/ van terminal. I didn’t see this coming so I’ve decided to just get any drivers at 4am but no one is awake! Good thing our cottage caretaker has a motorcycle and so he initiated to just take both of me and my boyfriend to the terminal. Thank God!

  1. Have some snacks on your way back to Puerto Princesa terminal

Good tip:

The journey is really tiring as it would take you 5 hrs so it is smart to bring some snacks with you as there’s not so many food stopovers you can find along the way.

Hope you find this 5 tips helpful in planning your trip.

I’ll be continuing with more detailed trip on my next post so

Red Charcoal- affordable garden restaurant in Marikina

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Red Charcoal Garden Grill Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Marikina may seem a bit far to reach out for those food trippers Malinenos like me but why limit yourself from discovering some good hide-out place to chill and have some good food in such affordable price if you can go all the way and drive to – Marikina and discover RED CHARCOALan affordable garden restaurant that is perfect for your gatherings, parties and events.

Let me introduce you to one of my fave hotspot food restau in Marikina:

The Interior of this place is hippy-not-your-overrated-garden-restau

food is so good. I mean it is served in very nice plated manner with touch of love so why not give it a try? 🙂

Red Charcoal Garden Grill is open from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.,  They also host a live band on Thursdays and Fridays. They welcome guests who would like to jam with them too so be ready with your singing voice and sing along and just have a great time.

Now let me get straight to the point and name few dishes I’ve tried and fell inlove.

Asian Chicken wings 8pcs (P245)

This crispy wings taste so good, the sauce is very flavorful as I could taste the honey BBQ-ish flavor on it.

Red Charcoal Salad (P190) , Balot Ala Pobre 3 pcs (P165)

Their house salad would really make your stomach crave for more authentic filo taste as the salted egg really make it very flavorful and because this just won’t satisfy you at all then try  matching it up with their own signature “balut ala pobre” – this dish was unexpectedly good as I definitely won’t try tasting exotic food.

Baby Back Ribs 1 Whole Slab (P295)

Meat so tender it surely falls right off the bone. Generally, people think of baby back ribs as a dish that can make them spend more but then the price this place offer for one whole slab is definitely worth trying.

Tuyo Pasta (P160), Tahong Sisig (P195)

The way they served their pasta really impressed me as the touch of tuyo ( salted fish) made a huge impact in putting all the flavors together.

while the tahong sisig is best when it serves with some rice I guess, as the texture and flavor of it is strong.

Check their FB and LIKE:

I assure you that this will be one of your best food tripping place.

rating: 8/10

food , place and vibe is good and definitely worth your time and money.

Red Charcoal is definitely worth a visit for a budget friendly garden restaurant!

How I Respond To “What is love?’ Question

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

1 Corinthians 13:4-0 NIV

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

I don’t know what true love is, but I think it’s hearing him say “I don’t know what my life is without you”

While he locks his eyes at you and make you feel how special you are. It’s getting a Facetime or Skype call with him just to ask how your day was and listen to your rants about some nonsense things. It’s getting a multiple selfies and choosing the best ones to send to him and pretending it’s just a random selfie day but you really planned it so you can let him know how cute you look that day. I think love is blurting out how exactly you feel about him when he catches you staring at him and you suddenly look away and act like you didn’t look at him while trying to hide the smile on your face. It’s this phase when you sacrifice your sleep just to talk to him and you would be so groggy the next day but it’s worth it. When you catch yourself smiling and laughing suddenly and people around you would wonder why. Love is being afraid of showing your flaws but you still show it anyways. It’s waking up with him every morning to watch him sleep next to you and whisper how you love him so dearly in his ears. It’s when you tried to dance with him despite you know he has two left feet and passionately singing to these cute love songs even you know you can’t reach the notes. I’m not sure what love is but I believe it is some kind of a magic.

It’s magic how out of billions of people in the earth… I was able to meet you <3

Kusina Luntian offered really good food!

I love their fish, liempo and the Paco salad but of course it is the best to eat it in bare hands! Kamayan na!

  1. Meet new friends

-One good thing in staying in a hostel is that you can get to experience meeting different people from all walks of life. All travelers know how important it is to be practical in handling finances and expenses while traveling. why he is successful and I’m not?

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

I’m currently hooked up with the book entitled ” Outliers” because I heard someone said that it could somehow change how you view success. After reading few chapters I can say that the author really knows what he is talking about! He presented his ideas sequentially which will allow you to grasp his thoughts with much intensity. Every page will make you think about something you’ve never realized before. I know that some point in your life you asked yourself this question: Why life is so unfair? and after asking it you just left hanging with thoughts like; Am I doing what’s right for me? Am I in the right track? How am I supposed to change the course of my life? Who should I blame? What am I supposed to do now?

In his book, I’ve written my favourite part that he stated which goes like this “…the tallest oak in the tree is the tallest not just because it grew from the hardest acorn, it is the tallest because no trees blocked its sunlight.” page 20

In my opinion successful people are success because of these reasons:

1. They have resources

– Money is power, if you have it you can be anything you want. with money comes knowledge, with knowledge comes experience and with experience comes wisdom. Wisdom is the powerful thing you must gain to be able to attain the things you dreamed of. If you really want something in life you have to work hard to gather what you need and smartly use what you have.

2. No one can stop them

– Driven people are not easy to fool, they are solid in their decisions which will allow them to become undefeated. If there is an opportunity that knocks in they are the ones who immediately come in and take the role.

3. right timing

– there are many opportunities in life, sometimes the people who see it first are the ones who always get the most of everything. Just imagine the formula of success is preparation + right timing x opportunity= SUCCESS

4. great networks

– surround yourself with the right people that will help you to where you want to go. positive people will pushed you to your limit and will be so direct that sometime will just caught you off guard. YES, people who speak nice things to you most of the time are the people who don’t want to see you grow and learn from your mistakes.

5. They have goals

– when traveling from your goal try to remember how the light travels. Light passes through some materials but not through others which means that when you are moving forward to your goals make sure you are clearly true with yourself on what you really want in life because light cannot pass through opaque materials. It’s better to travel in a straight line where you can see the light  than go with different directions and end in nowhere.
